Where to Stay

The Wedding will be at Grand Hotel Taipei (圓山大飯店)! We recommend staying near Zhongshan (中山) Station. This area is centrally located, fun, and has lots to do.

Cell Phone Service / Data

The easiest option is to activate an international plan with your regular cell carrier.

Or you can purchase a plan from a Taiwanese carrier if you have a phone without a carrier lock. Most support eSIM, which lets you download a data plan straight into your phone. Most local carriers also have booths at the airport where you can get a physical SIM card installed, or rent a portable WiFi hotspot.

Getting to Taiwan

There are direct flights to Taoyuan International Airport from San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Houston, and Washington, D.C. We recommend using Google Flights to explore options, but Cleo has a soft spot for the Taiwanese airlines (Eva Air & China Airlines).

If you're planning on visiting Japan before or after the wedding, it may be cheaper / easier to fly with a Japanese airline like JAL or ANA.

Taoyuan Airport to Taipei

Taipei's public transit provides Express and Commuter service from the airport to downtown Taipei. Ubers and taxis are also readily available, or you can prebook a car service.

Getting Around Taipei

Taipei's public transit (MRT) is extremely convenient, safe, and inexpensive. You can tap to pay or purchase a transit card (EasyCard) at most MRT stations or convenience stores (7-11, Family Mart).

Uber works seamlessly. Or you can hail a taxi, which might be marginally cheaper than a Uber. But you will probably need to show the driver your destination on your phone (or work on your Mandarin).

Taipei also has a bike share (YouBike). Setting up an account is a bit complicated (especially without a Taiwan phone number), but the bikes are a quick and fun way around. See this guide for more details.
